Halloumi
Halloumi is one of Cyprus’s most distinctive tastes, a firm brined cheese traditionally made with sheep’s and goat’s milk, sometimes with cow’s milk as well. Grilled or served fresh, it keeps its shape and develops a satisfying salty crust. Travelers will encounter it at breakfast tables, tavernas and village meals, often paired with watermelon, tomatoes, bread or herbs. It is an easy, delicious introduction to everyday Cypriot food culture.
