A deeply restorative journey into the living tradition of the Estonian smoke sauna a place to slow down, cleanse, reconnect and simply be.
At Wiire, near Pärnu, you will experience a genuine Estonian smoke sauna in the peaceful surroundings of an old coastal farmhouse. Guided by sauna hostess Elis Seppius, the experience introduces you to traditional sauna customs and the deeper meaning behind them.
The sauna experience unfolds slowly, without rushing. You are guided through several sauna sessions, warming, cooling, resting and traditional sauna practices. Whisking, natural ingredients and the elements of fire, water, wood and steam become part of the experience.
The sauna is a place to leave everyday life behind for a while to breathe, listen to your body and allow yourself to rest. Between sauna sessions, you can cool down in the pond, enjoy herbal tea and relax in the peaceful surroundings.
The experience is suitable for 1–12 people and is particularly well suited for couples, friends, small groups, private celebrations, team experiences and international visitors wishing to discover authentic Estonian sauna culture.
The experience includes
* 3–4 hours of guided smoke sauna experience with sauna hostess
* Introduction to Estonian smoke sauna traditions and customs
* Traditional sauna whisking
* Natural sauna practices using honey, salt, ash and herbs
* Hot water from the sauna stove and cold water for cooling
* Herbal tea and flavoured water
* Fruit and light refreshments
* Rest and quiet time between sauna sessions
* Cooling in the pond or, in winter, an ice bath
* Use of the garden house and barbecue house during the experience
* After the guided ritual, up to one additional hour to enjoy the smoke sauna privately at your own pace
The Estonian smoke sauna tradition is part of UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is a living tradition passed from generation to generation, connecting everyday life, nature, family and community.
Wiire is not a performance or a spa treatment. It is time set aside for yourself to slow down, experience an authentic Estonian tradition and leave with a lighter body and a quieter mind.
