Baklava
Baklava is one of Türkiye’s most celebrated sweets, built from delicate layers of pastry, butter, nuts and syrup. Regional styles vary, with pistachio especially associated with the southeast and walnuts common elsewhere. A small piece with Turkish coffee or tea is enough to appreciate its crisp texture and rich sweetness. Look for pastry shops where trays are freshly cut and the layers remain light rather than heavy.
